Ride tour is a 2018 finalist in our Films over 40 Minutes category. We asked Wu Weilang some questions to get to know about him and the film:
What was your inspiration behind the story?
This is the first documentary for mine. I think the biggest difficulty is clipping. Because all shots are actually happening.I want to show the truest story on our way. So we try to exchange each other’s stories with everyone we meet on the road，then we record it.There are no restrictions on music，regardless of region, crowd, occupation, age, identity. So my inspiration comes from music and reality. My documentary is also story-telling.
Who or what is your inspiration?
Music is my inspiration.I decided to shoot this documentary because I was young，I want to see different places，I want to contact different people.
Did you come across major hurdles during production?
Very difficult，every process is difficult，because this is my first feature film，I continue to try and explore. This video is completely finished by myself，from shooting to editing，the biggest difficulty for one person is the early shooting，especially the recording of sound. There are many emergencies recorded using mobile phones，Because it's too late to open my camera. It's really hard to make this movie.
What advise do you have for aspiring film makers?
I think the opportunity is the most important，I hope there are more opportunities to create more videos.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FUTURE PROJECTS IN THE WORKS?
Yes，I do. I want to make a movie. The approximate content is about traditional Chinese culture and arts，this story takes place in a Chinese reorganization family，now many elderly people in China will find a partner，this traditional art is very rare in China nowadays，I want to let more people in the world understand the story of traditional Chinese culture and the current reorganization of the family.
