ONE AND ONE ARE ONE-Hadley Rebecca Miller has lived through the lens of romantic comedies, so much so they have become her reality, we find out some inspirations behind one of our 2018 mini short finalist films with Andrew Alden.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE FILM:
We wanted to tell a story that takes place completely in a box, in a room. We started talking about a woman whose entire reality is Romcoms. Playing with agoraphobia and the reasons behind some's mental illness was the essence of the story.
WHAT WAS THE MOMENT THAT MADE YOU DECIDE THAT YOU WOULD WRITE THIS FILM / PRODUCE THIS FILM?
For this story, we (Nicole and myself) were interested in how a series of events can alter a person's behavior. There was was no exact inspiration per say besides the fact that we wanted to work together and it was the right time and right place.
DID YOU COME ACROSS MAJOR HURDLES DURING THE PRODUCTION / WRITING PROCESS?
The biggest obstacle was shooting in a basement and trying to make it feel like a person's entire world. But Nicole is extremely detail oriented when it comes to production design. It really made it easy to have her exist in the space.
MOST MEMORABLE "ON-SET" MOMENT:
The most memorable or arduous moment on set is we would dump out all these connect four tiles in a single take and painstakingly would have to reset them each take.
WHAT ADVISE DO YOU HAVE FOR ASPIRING ARTISTS AND FILM MAKERS?
Write it, Shoot it, Edit it.
