UNSOUND was a two time category winner in our 2016 Festival Season - taking home Best Sound, and Best Feature Film over 40 minutes.
What was your inspiration behind the story?
It’s a sequel to the director’s film school thesis project short film. It’s also about the idea of safety and the fact that no matter what, we’re never 100% untouchable from ones who want to harm us.
Who is your inspiration behind film making?
Filmmakers like David Fincher, John Carpenter, Mark Pellington. We wanted to make something ultra low budget and came up with a small scale story that would allow for that.
Any major hurdles during production?
Yes. Having no real budget, a lot of us just worked for comped food and gas but no real salary. We all wore multiple hats and cross-crossed different departments.
What was your most memorable on set experience?
One particular weekend where we filmed and looked at the dailies later and realized some key scenes we captured were the perfect realization of the scenes from the script. To have something play out exactly as you wrote it is very rewarding.
Do you have any advise for aspiring film makers?
Just do it. If you have the passion and that spark of an idea, make it happen. Even with little-to-no money. Sure it’ll be much harder but don’t let that stop you.
